Become a CTC Steering Committee Member
Our advocacy work is led by a dedicated team of steering committee members who set CTC's strategic vision and direction. Committee members play a vital leadership role in organizing campaigns, engaging with stakeholders and decision-makers, and serving as the voice for public transit riders in Iowa City.
As a member-driven organization, new committee members are elected annually by our existing membership base. Members make a yearly commitment to actively participating in committee activities and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities for CTC steering committee members include:
• Attending monthly committee meetings to discuss priorities, initiatives and strategize
• Overseeing and supporting advocacy campaigns, events, outreach efforts etc.
• Engaging with community stakeholders like nonprofits, major employers, neighborhood groups
• Providing input and voting on organizational policies, budgets, platforms etc.
• Serving as an ambassador for CTC's mission within their networks
• Contributing skills/expertise in areas like communications, data analysis, organizing etc.
Committee members can expect a minimum 5-10 hour per month time commitment to meetings, events and projects. Additional preparation or responsibilities may be required based on roles.
Qualifications
To be eligible for CTC membership, candidates must:
• Be a current CTC member in good standing
• Demonstrate passion for public transit equity and accessibility
• Commit to actively participating for a minimum of one year
• Have availability for monthly evening meetings
• Bring relevant skills/experience in areas like advocacy, outreach, planning, communications etc.
